Preparing for the PEB certifier's visit: the complete checklist
A PEB certification visit lasts on average one to one and a half hours for a home. The difference between a good and a poor result largely depends on what is ready on the day of the visit. This checklist covers what we systematically ask for.
Administrative documents
These allow the property and its actual surfaces to be identified.
- Plans of the home (even old or approximate ones).
- Building permit and any renovation permit.
- Previous PEB certificate, if one exists.
- Initial or final PEB declaration for a recent construction or renovation.
Proof of insulation and window frames
These are the most decisive documents for the label. An invoice stating the thickness and type of insulation can be worth an entire letter in many files.
- Invoices for roof, wall and floor insulation, with thicknesses.
- Invoices and technical data sheets for window frames and glazing.
- Airtightness test certificate (blower door), if applicable.
Technical systems
The efficiency recorded depends directly on the accuracy of the documents provided.
- Invoice and technical data sheet for the boiler or heat pump.
- Type of domestic hot water production (tank, instantaneous, solar).
- Solar panel certificate stating the installed peak power.
- Type of ventilation (natural, single-flow, dual-flow).
Access to prepare
The certifier must visually observe what they record. Anything that is not accessible is considered unproven.
- Attic hatch cleared.
- Access to the cellar and technical room.
- Access to all rooms, including annexes and garage.
- Meters and boiler visible.
Key takeaways
- Allow one to one and a half hours on site.
- A complete file avoids unfavourable default values.
- Anything neither proven nor visible is not recorded in your favour.
